Lower School
Williamsburg Academy's Lower School consists of students in 4K through 5th grade. The elementary school curriculum has a strong emphasis on reading, language arts, and math skills as well as science and social studies. Skills are developed through application, analysis, and higher order thinking. Teachers use a variety of methods to help students achieve success at an early level. Students attend enrichment classes each day. Enrichment activities include music, Spanish, P.E., library, and computer science. Our Accelerated Reader Program provides students with continuous practice of fundamental reading skills. Our Lower School Computer Lab offers students the opportunity to use the most up to date technology to enhance their learning experience at Williamsburg Academy.
Middle School
Our middle school students are offered challenging courses as defined by state guidelines. In grades 6 - 8, work is concentrated on strengthening basic skills and developing greater academic responsibility and disciplined work habits. Students are required to complete one math, one English, one science, and social studies class. Semester classes are offered in careers, computer science, physical education, and study skills. Beginning in grade eight, upon the recommendation of their teachers and the approval of the Head of School, students may take honors courses in math and English.
High School
Our high school students are offered challenging courses as defined by state guidelines. Two basic programs are offered at the high school level: a general curriculum and a college preparatory curriculum. Our state of the art Computer Lab allows student access to the most up to date technology and on-line computer courses are also offered. Our Chemistry Lab provides students with hands-on applications.
Diploma Requirements

To receive a College Preparatory Diploma, a student must take and pass twenty-four units which must include:
- four units of English
- four units of mathematics: Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and one additional mathematics course
- four units of science: Biology, Chemistry I, Chemistry II, and one additional laboratory science
- four units of social studies: ½ unit of Economics, ½ unit of Government ,World History, U. S. History and one elective
- two units of the same foreign language Note: Some colleges may require three units of the same foreign language.
- one and one-half units of computer science
- one unit of Physical Education
- three and one-half units of electives
- All other requirements specified in the latest SCISA Basic Minimum Requirements for an Accredited School for a College Preparatory diploma

To receive a General Diploma, a student must take and pass eighteen units which must include:
- four units of English
- three units of mathematics*
- three units of science*
- three units of social studies (One of these must be a unit in American History)*
- five units of electives
- All other requirements specified in the latest SCISA Basic Minimum Requirements for an Accredited School for a General diploma
* Two units of the same foreign language may be substituted for two of the following three units: one unit of science, one unit of mathematics, or one unit of social studies.
